What is SHARE?
SHARE (Self Help and Resource Exchange) is a world-wide food program that has been extraordinarily successful in helping people stretch their food dollars while helping to make their community stronger by doing volunteer service for neighbors and others within the community.
What is a SHARE?
A SHARE is a box of food which includes: 4-5 frozen meats, a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and other grocery items such as pasta, brownie mix or cheese. The food is all in season and of high quality. SHAREs are available for purchase at the beginning of each month and are distributed the last or second to last Saturday of each month. You can buy as many SHAREs as you like or share them and split the cost. Anyone can order SHAREs. There are no income restrictions. This is not a government program, nor is it a hand-out. The foods are not commodities.
How much will it cost?
Each SHARE cost 2 hours of volunteer service plus either $17.00 cash, or $14.00 Access Card and $2.00 cash. If you are unable to get your SHAREs on distribution day, you can have someone pick them up for you by having them bring your receipts to the distribution site. They will have to sign for the food.

What sort of volunteer service will I be doing?
The SHARE program defines volunteer service as anything you do to better your community, for which you don't get paid. Things like:
- babysitting for a friend
- running errands for someone who is homebound
- reading stories to children
- visiting someone who is sick
- helping with the SHARE program
Many of us do these things already; we just don't think of them as volunteering; we think of our kind acts as being neighborly or helpful.
